Truckin - WOW
This is a really good show, I had heard the first set before, but not the second. I listened to it tonight, and it is wonderful, and the Truckin blew mw away, I would put it in the top 5 ever!

30 years ago today
An old friend who is presently living in S.Africa reminded me about our 30-year anniversary of this show. "Epic" is the most appropriate and accurate description for our participation in this show, and the show itself. Thanks to all you tapers and archivists out there for providing reinforcement for the magical memories of the rest of us. It is a tremendous gift you have provided, and I wanted you all to know that you and your work are very appreciated. This show changed me and my life, almost entirely for the better. Peace.

I've got to admit for whatever reason I don't really give '79 shows a listen too often...this show will change that for sure. The Sugaree jams get the party started in a big way. I actually found myself digging Bobby's slide playing, which I don't think I ever said before:) Kick ass energy in this one.
Oh, and I nearly spit coffee on my monitor when I read the previous review, "I'd offer the wife, but he doesn't deserve all the bitching that comes with that." Good stuff...

You got it! Anytime he wants Charlie Miller can drink my beer, stay at my house, and borrow my car; I'd offer the wife, but he doesn't deserve all the bitching that comes with that.
And thank you Steve for the outstanding taping job. Man, I felt like I was there, and what a show!
And I don't mean what a show, like a pretty good show: I mean this is one of their best freaking shows ever. I listen to 90% 1974 and earlier and I am just totally blown away by this show.
Who put Benzedrine in the band's ovaltine???? (yeah, right . . . )
What a freaking show!!!!!!!!

Most of us sit back and listen on this site and don't do a damn thing to contribute, myself included, and then you have guys like Charlie and others who dedicate their time and effort to bring it home in the cleanest possible way. Love you guys....thanks for your love of the Dead. We are indebted to you.

Jack Straw is one of the numbers that begins to take on a very different character with Brent in the band. Not that there was anything wrong with it before, but there certainly is a new-found agression here.
I was really interested to hear how China > Rider sounded. For me, the jam between is the bell-weather, and I suspect for the band as well becuase they didn't roll it out for a while after Brent joined. The audience reaction here is pretty enthusiastic, but I don't think it is a unified thought just yet.

Soundboard recordings are essential for preserving performances, but great fobs enable us to to preserve experiences. Teleport back to a sweaty, deliriously happy night on the the floor in Binghamton. This is an amazing recording and flawless transfer.
